Video File Size Calculator
Estimate a video’s export size from bitrate and running time.
About this tool
When planning uploads, storage, or delivery, it helps to estimate how large a rendered video might be. A practical estimate comes from multiplying combined video and audio bitrate by the duration, then converting bits to bytes. This calculator performs that math automatically.
For example, a ten-minute video encoded near 12 Mbps for video plus 192 kbps for audio will be roughly 914 MB in decimal megabytes before container overhead. Variable-bitrate exports can differ significantly from that approximation depending on the content.
Creator tip: Use a bitrate that matches your chosen codec, resolution, frame rate, and destination requirements. A higher number alone does not guarantee better visible quality.
Common questions
Is this the exact file size?
No. It is a bitrate-based estimate and can differ from the actual export.
What is Mbps?
Megabits per second. It describes the average data rate used to encode the video.
Does a higher bitrate always mean higher quality?
Not necessarily. Codec efficiency, source quality, resolution, and encoder settings also matter.
